Micromegas, named after Voltaire’s eponymous tale, is a cross-residency initiative for the next generation of media artists in France and Hong Kong in 2021 and 2022.
The Hong Kong component, supported by La Fabrique des Résidences, allows the winner to create an original work while interacting with the local scene and the general public. The work produced during the French artist’s residency will be part of the official programming of Art Basel Hong Kong.
The program invites a French artist in Hong Kong and a Hong Kong artist in France for an eight-week residency to respectively create a media artwork inspired by the city and local culture under the theme of Globalization.
This residency is part of a new exchange program between France and Hong Kong.
The first edition takes place in Hong Kong in 2021, is supported by the French Institute and co-organized by the Consulate General of France in Hong Kong and Macau, K11 Art Foundation, Videotage and Cneai.
