In the field of books and reading, the Ministry of Culture plays a role in evaluating and regulating the book chain, particularly in the fields of bookshops and publishing, public reading, digital and heritage policies. He supervises the Bibliothèque nationale de France (BnF), the Bibliothèque publique d'information and the Centre national du livre and follows the careers and staff of the libraries assigned to the ministry. For the implementation of State policy, it relies on the Regional Cultural Affairs Directorates and their advisers for books and reading.
