During the 2022-2023 school year, the scheme Young people in bookstores in Île-de-France, carried by the DRAC Île-de-France, in collaboration with the association Paris Librairies and in partnership with the Ministry of National Education and Youth, supports 100 projects throughout the Ile-de-France region. 49 projects take place within the Academy of Versailles (15 projects in the Hauts-de-Seine, 11 projects in the Val d'Oise, 9 projects in the Essonne and 14 in the Yvelines).
In the Collège François Mauriac, located in the Grande Couronne of Île-de-France, a somewhat special meeting between the author of The Girl Who Smiles, Laurence Gillot, students of 6e and the La Fabrique du Monde bookshop.
The realization of a Kamishibai

Two full days of discussions and sharing with, as a final point, the organization of an evening for parents and the author to present a surprising achievement: a kamishibaï.
Kamishibai, a play on paper, is a Japanese narrative genre where artists content a story while they scroll through illustrations. The students, of course, chose to present a novel by Laurence Gillot The girl who smiles.

With the help of their French teacher and their documentalist teacher, they began by summarizing the work and then made shadow drawings and divided the floor to tell the novel. This allowed them to understand how narration works in a novel and also to question the place of illustration.
An evening of sharing with parents, the bookstore La Fabrique du Monde and Laurence Gillot
Evening meeting at François Mauriac college
This evening was held in front of the parents of students who came especially for the occasion, the author, delighted, and the bookseller who was present throughout the project. A buffet was planned for the occasion and participants were able to buy other works of the author and get signed.
The students prepared a surprise for the author: a theatre sketch to explore the tale and narration in a different way. An evening rich in emotions that allowed students to reflect on the diversity of the means used to tell a story.
This project shows a close collaboration between the various participants of the project that allowed a real exploration for the students and a very interesting moment of sharing for all the guests.

Class participation in "If we read aloud"
Two students of this college of Houdan, with the support of their two teachers, sent their video application for "Si on lire à voix haute", organized by the program "La Grande Librairie" on France TV.
These students of 6e have shown throughout the year a strong interest in reading, storytelling and books that has been encouraged by their teachers and the partner bookseller.
Young people in bookstores 2022-2023 for the Academy of Versailles is:
The Jeunes en librairie projects are initiated by members of the educational community and book professionals, in particular booksellers, and take the form of at least two meetings:
- The bookseller comes in class to present his profession, his bookshop and the other professions of the book chain,
- A visit to the partner bookstore is organized, during which students use Lire cheques in the amount of 25 € per student, given by the Jeunes en librairie device, for individual and personal purchases.
