Our missions
The Theatre Department follows the activity and the management of certified establishments 7 National Drama Centres (CDN) and 9 National Scenes (SN); conventioned scenes and places of creation and diffusion located in Île-de-France.

It also follows the work of more than 800 artistic teams the fields of theatre and associated arts (street arts, circus arts, mime, storytelling, gesture arts, puppetry and object theatre, etc.) that can be supported through:
- decentralized aids to the show living : Project aid (creation or takeover), or Agreement (multi annual aid). Experts from the College of Theatre and Associated Arts, appointed by the Prefect of the Region, meet in regional advisory committees to monitor the evolution of the artistic creation of these teams.
- of national aids (companionship, national creative support for street arts and circus, and help with roaming) The French Theatre Department advisers for the Île-de-France teams.
It also supports artistic teams through residencies. It gives priority to strengthening the artistic presence in the territories and within the structures of the various creation and dissemination networks. This device is not a call for projects open to companies, the funding is directly allocated to the structures monitored by the department.
To meet the needs of development and structuring of festivals, support their transitions and encourage their innovations and artistic risk-taking, the Ministry of Culture provides financial assistance under certain conditions.
