This label distinguishes the project led by the Parvis, Scène nationale directed by Frédéric Esquerré, at the service of artistic creation and the excellence of the work carried by the art center and its team, under the delegated direction of Magali Gentet. It reinforces the Parvis' strong support for the French art scene and its active involvement in the structuring and professionalization of the visual arts sector.
The establishments labeled "Centre d'art contemporain d'intérêt national" are part of a national network contributing to thedevelopment and promotion of contemporary creation.
These structures then become references in the field of visual arts at local, regional, national and international levels.
Founded in 1974, the Parvis develops a triple activity: live performance, cinema, contemporary art, and has an original location in a large shopping center on the outskirts of Tarbes.
The main axes of its action take into account the recent evolution of the stakes of contemporary creation as well as the historical, social, cultural and economic character of its implantation.
