More than 100 parks and gardens in the Hauts-de-France region, including 28 new ones, are open to the public during this friendly and accessible weekend. Free or guided, the tours allow children and adults to discover pleasant and recreational places. Among the new gardens opened this year are the Citadelle of Phalempin (North) and the Pré Lalou in Bazinghen (Pas-de-Calais) which organize respectively free visits as well as an exhibition space.
This weekend also allows to discover the diversity of animals present in the gardens where are organized many workshops and exchanges between amateur or professional gardeners, concerts and shows for young and old, many tastings of artisanal products or exhibitions of paintings and sculptures.
In the Longpré Priory Gardens in Haramont (Aisne), visitors can discover gardens and medieval religious architecture. He can also walk freely in the Fairy Garden in Saint-Sylvestre-Cappel (North) to enjoy the massifs of shrubs, roses, and a vegetable garden with original medicinal plants. The Garden of the Priory of Saint-Arnoult (Oise) and its manor of the XVe century turns the instant of a weekend to the literature of Georges Sand or the music of Chopin taken over by Alexandre Théodoulides. A macrophotography workshop supervised by Laurent Govaert and an exhibition of sculptures by Gisèle Palin are also on offer.
Finally, the Draeck Garden in Zutkerque (Pas-de-Calais) offers to observe the new green spaces located around the castle of the Lady with Wolves and the Gardens of Ly in Sénarpont (Somme) invite the public to fully enjoy this year’s theme through its lower-landscaped courtyard.
Visitors also have the opportunity during these days to discover gardens of the Hauts-de-France labeled «Remarkable Gardens» like the Jardins de la Muette in Largny-sur-Automne, the Gardens of the castle of Puisieux-Clanlieu (Aisne), the Arboretum du Manoir aux loups in Halluin and the Jardin des Cultures – Mosaïc in Houplin-Anscoisne (North). Similarly, the Jardin des Ifs de Gerberoy (Oise) invites the public to discover a «igloo» yew that can accommodate a dozen people. Adults and children can come and listen to the Fables de la Fontaine, dressed up for a costume party. Also in the Oise, the Jardin du Brûle d'Herchies, the Jardin du Moulin Ventin de Paillart, the Parc du Château de la Valgenceuse in Senlis and the Parc et jardins du Domaine de Chantilly are opening their doors, as are the Jardins du Manoir d'Henocq in Brexent-Enocq, the Jardin des Lianes de Chériennes, the Jardin botanique du Beaux-Pays de Marck, and the Jardins de Séricourt in Pas-de-Calais. In addition, in the Somme, the Jardin d'Emonville d'Abbeville, the Jardin des Plantes d'Amiens, the Jardin du Château de Maizicourt, the Parc et la roseraie du Château de Rambures and the Jardins de la Baie de Somme de Saint-Valéry-sur-Somme invite you to relax and walk.
Some parks and gardens are accessible free of charge, others offer preferential rates and discounted rates for young people. Friday, June 7 is reserved for school students in some gardens, with tours adapted by reservation at participating gardens.
