Following a call for LIFO research projects, the latter publishes online the synthesis of the results of a research examining the complementary or substitutable nature of the different physical and digital channels of musical consumption for the French market of recorded music between 2014 and 2017. Exploiting the data of the panel Distributors of the GfK institute, the analysis is made with regard to titles, albums and artists, distinguishing the different musical genres. The authors are Marc Ivaldi (Toulouse School of Economics), Ambre Nicolle (Institute for Strategy, Technology and Organization, LMU Munich School of Management), Frank Verboven (KU Leuven) and Jiekai Zhang (Hanken School of Economics and Helsinki Graduate School of Economics).
The results of this research were published in March 2023 in the Journal of Cultural Economics.
