One of the major axes of the European and international policy of the Ministry of Culture is the reception of foreign cultures in France. In this context, the Ministry of Culture has been piloting the Currents of the World scheme for more than 30 years in partnership with cultural operators, structures and public services in the region.
Composed of 4 distinct programs, Currents of the World is based on the reception of leaders of foreign cultural structures. Each program is a space for exchanges and reciprocal discoveries between French professionals and their counterparts. The objective of Currents of the World is to create bridges between cultures and encourage the development of joint projects.
The 2023 edition will bring together 56 cultural professionals from 38 countries for 10 days in France. The programme designed by the Ministry of Culture offers, from 9 to 19 October, a "Culture Stay" and two thematic "Culture Itineraries": Third places and other innovative models and Organization of temporary exhibitions and circulation of cultural goods in Africa.
Cultural route: Third places and other innovative cultural models
The Ministry of Culture organizes a collective thematic culture itinerary dedicated to Third Places and other innovative models. In partnership with collaborative and transdisciplinary spaces located in Ile-de-France and Hauts-de-France, 12 professionals from abroad - directors, programming coordinators, advisors, etc - are invited to meet French actors in this field. These third places offer a model of cultural development combining culture, work, creativity, mutual aid and social inclusion. During various workshops and meetings, participants will exchange with their counterparts about their experiences in order to acquire new tools and build new relationships.
