The study of the Société française des intérêts des auteurs de l'écrit (SOFIA) and the Ministry of Culture, carried out in conjunction with all the players in the book chain, provides an objective overview of the second-hand market over the last ten years: sales evolution, platform offer analysis, profiles and practices of buyers and resellers, business models of companies, positioning of independent bookstores, etc.
Beyond the volume and weight now represented by the occasion on the book market, the study finds that the nature of supply and demand has renewed, in a context of growth of second-hand goods in the French economy and thanks to multiple technological developments (online purchases, alert systems and comparison of available books, etc.).
