The artistic creation in Mayotte
The Mayotte Department of Cultural Affairs (DAC Mayotte) is responsible for implementing a policy of development and visibility of creative activities throughout the territory. Its mission is to support, in consultation with local authorities, the development of associations engaged in actions of production, dissemination and mediation of contemporary creation as well as the valorisation of musical and choreographic heritage. It also stands alongside the artistic and cultural initiatives of amateurs in the field of artistic creation.
Support and structuring of artistic sectors in the territory in the fields of performing arts, visual arts, cinema and audiovisual
- The DAC provides the necessary advice and information to creators, whatever their field of intervention (visual artists, craftsmen, dancers, singer-songwriters, musicians, actors, playwrights, etc.)to facilitate and support their projects, improve their working conditions and their economic and social integration.
- Allocates individual support to visual artists: Individual Creative Assistance (AIC) to finance a research or creative project and Workshop Installation and Equipment Purchase Allowance (AIA) in order to improve the working and production conditions of the works.
- It supports artists and performing arts companies by awarding Aides déconcentraes au spectacle vivant (ADSV). This system allows artistic teams and independent artists to develop their creative work and to benefit the widest possible audience. It contributes to the support of the artist or the artistic team in its creation dynamics with one-off (project assistance) or multi-year (conventionally).
- It promotes cooperation between local actors and supports professional networks, institutions and events designed to promote contemporary creation in the performing arts and visual arts sectors.
- It accompanies and supports public procurement operations in partnership with local authorities. This support for the creation of the Ministry of Culture - Directorate General of Artistic Creation responds to the challenges of expanding audiences of contemporary art and encouraging artists to create new and exceptional works, especially in public spaces.
- It also supports the 1% artistic procedure, a regulatory scheme which consists of allocating funding representing 1% of the cost of public buildings to the order or acquisition of one or more works of art specially designed for the building in question.
- It supports the activities of the audiovisual sector, in connection with the CNC (Centre national du cinéma et de l'image animée) concerning image education devices (Kindergarten in cinema, School and cinema, College in cinema and High school students and apprentices in cinema) to support the professionalisation of actors and deliver opinions on non-commercial and outdoor film screenings.
