Monument and disability
PERROT Françoise Perrot, CORVEST Hoëlle, La Sainte Chapelle, Paris, Monum, National Monuments Centre, collection "Sensorineural ", June 2005, 32 pp. of which 29 embossed plates, 1 contrasting booklet (32 pages), 1 colour booklet (40 pages), an audio CD in D format.
Designed in partnership with the International Visual Theatre Association (IVT), the collection offers a sensitive tour of the most emblematic monuments. After having evoked, through the personality of its sponsor, King Louis IX, the historical, political and religious context in which the Sainte-Chapelle was born, the work endeavours to describe its architecture and its carved decoration, painted and glazed, the stained glass windows receiving a more detailed treatment. Françoise Perrot is a research director at the CNRS and a leading specialist in stained glass. Hoëlle Corvest, who is also blind, has been managing for ten years the adapted publications of the Cité des sciences et de l'industrie where she also runs workshops for reading tactile images.
Prehistory, a bilingual lexicon in French and French sign language, Collective, Monum, Centre des monuments nationaux, collection "Lexsigns", March 2006, 116 pp.
The first volume of the collection lists more than one hundred and twenty signs related to the vocabulary of prehistory and used by deaf speakers of the Centre des monuments nationaux intervening in the prehistoric sites of the Dordogne valley. The result of a joint work conducted by professionals who are themselves deaf and prehistory specialists, each definition in French sign language is systematically compared with the definitions in French written. This corpus, essentially focused on the Palaeolithic period, is organized according to a thematic classification (prehistoric periods, man - its evolution, its habitat, its livelihoods - wildlife, industries, art, current research) allowing the reader to become familiar with the corresponding lexical fields. To facilitate the search, a specific color is associated with each theme.
