Among the flagship projects of this Sustainable Development Week, we present you MobilTéat, a traveling creative factory designed by the National Drama Centre of the Indian Ocean (CDNOI). This unique mobile theatre perfectly symbolizes the alliance between art and sustainable development.
The MobilTéat was designed to present theatrical art in new territories, especially those far from cultural institutions, and allow people who do not have the opportunity to move to benefit from a quality artistic offer. Modular and autonomous, it consists of four recyclable and transportable containers. This eco-responsible system is able to generate part of its electrical needs through the use of renewable energies, such as integrated solar panels. This innovative approach allows the MobilTéat to adapt to different locations, including the most isolated ones, while minimizing its ecological footprint.
A commitment to the future of arts and the environment
The MobilTéat is part of a global approach that aims to rethink the modes of artistic production and distribution, in accordance with current ecological issues. Alongside the Fabrik and the Théâtre du Grand Marché, MobilTéat complements the CDNOI’s creative process, while offering an environmentally friendly approach and creating opportunities for companies to develop works in tune with nature.
In this dynamic, the MobilTéat project is a model of artistic innovation for sustainable cultural development, in line with the values that the Sustainable Development Week wishes to promote.
This innovative project was born thanks to the support of many partners, including the France 2030 with Support for Green Alternatives 2, operated by the Banque des Territoires and the Caisse des Dépôts, the prefect of La Réunion, the Ministry of Culture, the DAC Reunion, the City of Saint-Denis and the Region Réunion.
Inauguration of the MobilTéat in Ilet Quinquina
The inauguration of MobilTéat took place on Saturday, September 21, 2024 in the natural setting of Ilet Quinquina (territory of Saint-Denis), in the presence of the Prefect of Reunion and Madam Mayor of Saint Denis. On this occasion, the public was able to discover the new show of the Malagasy company Miangaly Théâtre, «la ferme», which brings to the stage the voices of those who are not heard, between poetry and systemic upheaval.
More projects for a sustainable future
Next week, we will present other initiatives in the region that highlight this dynamic of sustainable development, and how, through culture and creativity, Reunion is committed to a greener and more responsible future.
