A little girl, accompanied by her friend Penguin, who every day hangs the clouds in the sky, sets the waves, inflates the fish… Enough to seduce children and parents who came to discover Puisette and Fragile at the cultural center of Bedouin this Friday in February. A show organized by the network of libraries of the Community of agglomeration Ventoux Comtat Venaissin (CoVe), which includes both municipal and associative structures.
« Our network aims to open the cultural offer to all inhabitants. So, every month, we organize shows, exhibitions, meetings with authors… especially for 0/6 year olds ” says Bousquet. “ The strength of the network is also a single card, a common software or a circulation of books from library to library that is done by the postman. »
Culture as a tool for social development
At 46, Émilie Bousquet is still enthusiastic about her work. For her, culture is above all a tool for social development.
« This social fibre is essential to me. I worked for the Association des paralysés de France, I carried out support missions in the Dominican Republic. When I arrived in Vaucluse 12 years ago, I found my place thanks to culture. Libraries have a useful role, especially in rural areas. Here, unlike big cities, they are the major cultural facilities. So the only two theatres are in Carpentras and Beaumes-de-Venise. So we adapt to the places, to the public.
In these small communities, some of which have only 500 inhabitants, we know our audiences...and those who are not. It’s up to us to go to them. »
First Pages
A mission that the 56 librarians of the network perform wonderfully. The network is also part of the Premières pages scheme, which recognizes its investment in favour of toddlers and their parents. Cross-training between librarians and early childhood professionals are regularly organized, sources of new ideas for collaborations.
