Underwater archaeology is a recent discipline that has allowed access to a rich environment through the quality of the remains that can be unearthed (organic materials) thanks to unique conservation conditions (anaerobic environment, sediments), and also very fragile because the balance of their conservation environment is easily threatened. These operations in hyperbaric environment also require adequate methods using a technicality constrained by the intervention environment (duration and depth, visibility, weather conditions...). Underwater archaeology is as many challenges as techniques to be developed.
