The 2016 Hauts-de-France Regional Archaeology Days will take place on 17, 18 and 19 November 2016. They are organized by the Hauts-de-France Regional Cultural Affairs Directorate, Regional Archaeology Service, in collaboration with the University of Lille, Humanities and Social Sciences and the Interdisciplinary Centre for Archaeological Research of the Somme (Ciras).
On 17 and 18 November the sessions will be held in the premises of the University of Lille - humanities Amphi B7 (basel B, forum level -1) in Villeneuve d'Ascq and on the 19th, on the site of the Drac in Amiens, room Robida, 5 rue Henri Daussy.
For the first time this year, this event will showcase the diversity and richness of the archaeological heritage of the new region. Speakers will present the most recent archaeological excavations, the results of which are still largely unpublished.
A special light will also be given on the exceptional discovery in Orchies of four statues of the XVIe and XVIIe centuries and circumstances that allowed their deposit by the State at the Museum of Fine Arts of Lille in 2015.
This event is an opportunity to meet and exchange with the different actors and institutions of regional archaeology (Regional Archaeology Service, National Institute for Preventive Archaeological Research, Archaeological Services of Local Authorities, Academics, Private Operators, Volunteers). It is open to all, free of charge, subject to availability.
Scientific publications and documents for the wider public will be available (subject to stock limits).
