The 14e Rendez-vous aux Jardins, organized by the Ministry of Culture and Communication, will be held on Friday 3, Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 June 2016 with the theme «The colors of the garden». During these 3 days, more than 110 parks and gardens of the region, including 22 new ones, offer visitors walks in a thousand colors.
Among the new gardens, in the North, the Sequoia garden in Limont-Fontaine and Dream Garden in La Neuville, in Oise, the Park and gardens of the domain of Chantilly and the Park and garden of Saint Vincent or, in the Pas-de-Calais, the Parc du castle of Berles-Monchel and the Gardens of castle of Audisque in Saint-Etienne-au-Mont.
Many guided tours, exhibitions, conferences and workshops organized by the owners of the gardens punctuate this weekend. Thus, the Jardin des Poilus in Paissy in the Aisne invites visitors to an exhibition on the history of the site and proposes interventions of members of the conservatory of natural spaces of Picardie. In Vauciennes in the Oise, the Garden of the Plessis-au-Plessis manorBois offers a wood, stone and aluminium sculpture workshop. Les Jof the Carmel and the Jardin d'Emmonville in Abbeville in the Somme program lectures on the flowering of gardens or on mosaic culture. Visitors can also discover a tropical greenhouse of the five continents at the Garden of the Bcountry water in Marck in the Pas-de-Calais area, recently awarded the «Remarkable Garden». Finally, in the North, amateur gardeners can learn more about organic gardening techniques at Hare garden in Sercus.
Some parks and gardens are accessible free of charge, others offer discounted rates for young people. Friday, June 3 is reserved for school students, with adapted tours by reservation at participating gardens.
Created in 2003 by the Ministry of Culture and Communication, the Rendez-vous aux jardins, contribute to the policy in favor of public or private gardens, in order to promote and promote them to the general public. This event is coordinated by the Direction régionale des affaires culturelles (DRAC) du Nord – Pas-de-Calais Picardie.
