Titled Video Mapping Resources, this collaborative information portal on video mapping aims to contribute to the dissemination of knowledge in this field.
What is video mapping?
The video mapping — or projection mapping — is a practice of project moving images onto nonplane surfaces and objects in volume located in our real environment. This is a recent technique that is part of the visual culture of our time. However, and despite the growing interest in this form of visual creation, It is clear that it is currently experiencing a lack of access to information.
The association «Rencontres Audiovisuelles» bears for several years a support project sector mapping : the Video Mapping European Center. This tool articulates research, training, support for creation (particularly through residencies) production and dissemination, particularly with the «Video Mapping Festival».
This resource portal is an extension of this work, and intends to contribute to recognition of actors discipline (artists, producers, festivals, researchers, etc.), but also help the general public, students or communities to discover or better understand video mapping.
Video Mapping Resources addresses the following:
- Research texts, particularly on the history of mapping frenchman
- A documentary web series: Mapping Stories
- A database supplemented by the actors and actors of the sector
- Tutorials
The platform “ Video Mapping Resources » is proposed with the support of the European Union (Europe is committed in Hauts-de-France with the European Regional Development Fund) and the DRAC Hauts-de-France, as part of its annual call for projects: «Innovative Digital Applications and Devices» (ADNI).
