European Night of Museums
The European Night of Museums is an annual event coordinated by the Ministry of Culture in collaboration with the Regional Directorates of Cultural Affairs, benefiting from the patronage of UNESCO, the Council of Europe and ICOM. Since its creation in 2005, it aims to promote access to culture and raise public awareness of the richness of European cultural heritage through activities and nightly entertainment in museums, all free for the occasion. Museums offer a different way to discover their collections and temporary exhibitions. Invited from an early age to see the cultural establishments with a new eye, the public is thus kept alert by new routes, commented tours, outdoor entertainment, live performance, music, culinary arts, screenings and other unusual festivities. The operation «The class, the work!» allows primary, middle and high school students to become the cultural mediators of the evening: after having studied throughout the year a work of a museum of proximity, they present to the public the mediation device they imagined with their teachers!
