He was a huge jazz guitarist who knew how to put his instrument at the service of variety song: the musician and composer Sylvain LUC left us abruptly on March 13, 2024, at the age of 58.
During his childhood in Bayonne, he had received a solid classical training, practicing almost all string instruments, from cello to mandolin. But his true passion was always the jazz guitar. With his immense technical mastery and great freedom of interpretation, Mr. Sylvain LUC had played alongside the best, from Françoise Hardy to Richard Galliano, Michel Legrand or Catherine Lara, who all recognized the extent of his talent. In 1993, with his solo guitar album Piaia, he masterfully demonstrated the breadth of his culture and musical influences. Winner in 1982 of the San Sebastian Jazz Festival with his group Bulle Quintet, at the very beginning of his career, he won the Django Reinhardt prize in 2011.
I extend my condolences to his family and loved ones.
