The Minister of Culture, Roselyne Bachelot-Narquin, announces the entry into force of the tax credit for broadcasters (television, radio and audiovisual media services on demand) for their creative expenses.
After several months of exchanges with the European Commission, this mechanism received a favourable decision on 18 May 2021.
This 15% tax credit is an exceptional measure to support publishers affected by the health crisis. It covers the expenses incurred by publishers between 1 March 2020 and 31 December 2020 for their contribution to the production of audiovisual and cinematographic works, royalties paid to collective management organisations and remuneration paid directly to authors.
The announcement of this tax credit in the summer of 2020 encouraged publishers to continue investing in creation despite the decline in their advertising revenues. This measure thus constitutes indirect support for the entire value chain of audiovisual and film creation.
A decree fixing the entry into force of the device will be published as soon as possible.
