Audrey Azoulay, Minister of Culture and Communication, welcomes the approval of the draft contract of objectives and means of France Télévisions for the period 2016-2020, prepared jointly by the State and the public group.
This project enshrines the ambition to strengthen the role of France Télévisions in supporting French creation in all its diversity, within a clear and sustainable balanced financial framework.
The proposed strategic project aims to affirm the specificity of the public service of France Télévisions' programmes, through:
- a major investment plan for the creation of all the branches;
- the launch of a continuous information offer, financed mainly by redeployment;
- strengthening the regional dimension of France 3;
- the affirmation of the place of the Overseas Departments on all the antennas and in particular on France Ô, which will henceforth be exclusively dedicated to them;
- an innovation strategy in line with the challenges of digital technology.
France Télévisions undertakes to implement these guidelines in the context of strictly balanced exploitation.
For its part, and after having mobilized more than 28 million euros of additional resources in 2016, the State commits to increase the public endowment of France Télévisions by 38 million in 2017 and 63 million by 2020. The State also undertakes, for the benefit of the entire audiovisual sector, to review the regulation on sponsorship, a measure which, according to the forecasts of France Télévisions, by 10 million euros of additional commercial revenues per year from 2017.
This draft will be submitted to the relevant parliamentary committees and the Higher Audiovisual Council for their opinions.
