On November 17, 2023, a convention was signed between the Ministry of Culture (General Delegation for Transmission, Territories and Cultural Democracy - DG2TDC) and the Agency for Work of General Interest and Professional Integration (ATIGIP).
What is Community Service?
Created in 2018, ATIGIP’s main mission is to develop the Community Service (TIG), a alternative sentence to incarceration to combat prison overcrowding and promote reintegration. People sentenced to a TIG must work a certain number of hours in structures where they are accompanied by tutors. The system is open to adults and minors.
660 Community Service (TIG) positions in cultural structures
Currently, about 660 positions are offered in cultural structures (Musée des Beaux-Arts de la ville de Rennes, Opéra national de Bordeaux, Mulhouse municipal library, Centre dramatique national de Montluçon, festival les Azt'zimutés de Cherbourg-en-Cotentin, etc.). The Ministry of Culture and ATIGIP carry the common will to to develop the TIG offer in the cultural sector, Drawing in particular on the networks of the Regional Directorates of Cultural Affairs.
The main objective of this convention is to sensitize all deconcentrated services and cultural institutions to the TIG. To this end, several information webinars were organized in 2023, and this dynamic will continue in 2024.
Culture and Justice
This agreement stems from the interdepartmental protocol culture/justice signed in March 2022, and a fruitful partnership between the Ministries of Culture and Justice to develop access to culture persons under the control of justice.
