The exhibition
The exhibition Heloise and Abelard : the invention of a myth May 15 to August 15, 2023. It celebrates the child of the country, Pierre Abélard (1079-1142), philosopher, logician and theologian of the Middle Ages born in the Pallet and his pupil, Héloïse d'Argenteuil (1101-1164). These two accursed lovers, who entered into orders following the failure of their loving fugue in Brittany, will continue their relationship through an intellectual and passionate correspondence. The exhibition, which will soon be published, traces how their forbidden but very real relationship has become over time a romantic and popular myth. They remain a true source of inspiration for 19th century artists, some of whom continue to pay tribute to them at Père Lachaise cemetery in Paris, where they are buried.
