Labeled as part of the European Year of Cultural Heritage, the International Exhibition of Cultural Heritage will be held at the Carrousel du Louvre, from October 25 to 28, on the theme European heritage, common heritage.
A stand to present the labels
On this occasion, the Ministry of Culture will honour the labels, designations and other legislative measures it has adopted to ensure the preservation and enhancement of heritage in all its richness and diversity.
These recognition tools illustrate the scope of France’s heritage policy:
- Historical monuments;
- Notable Heritage Sites;
- Cities and countries of art and history;
- Intangible cultural heritage;
- Museum of France;
- Remarkable garden;
- Houses of the Illustrious;
- Outstanding contemporary architecture.
The UNESCO World Heritage and European Heritage labels of the European Union will also be presented. They underline the symbolic and universal significance of certain French heritage sites.
All the buildings, sites, objects and cultural practices thus recognized contribute to the tourism development of our country and the attractiveness of its territories. They maintain France as the world’s leading tourist destination.
Open Heritage Platform (POP)
Along with other information resources put online by the Ministry of Culture, the new Open Heritage Platform (POP) will be presented to visitors. Conducted in partnership with the Interdepartmental Directorate of Digital and Government Information and Communication System (Betagouv), the new platform aims to bring together the digital content of French heritage in order to make it accessible and accessible to as many people as possible (researchers, teachers, staff of cultural institutions and the general public).
A round table on the European Year and heritage professions
The Directorate-General for Heritage of the Ministry of Culture will hold a round table on the implementation of the European Year of Cultural Heritage in Europe and France on 25 October in the presence of the Ambassador of the European Union in France and the Coordinator of the Year in Luxembourg. This round table will give a particular insight on heritage trades, thanks to the participation of the Vice-President of the Confederation of Crafts and Small Enterprises of Building (CAPEB) and the Association Union Rempart, which was particularly involved in 2018, to welcome young Europeans on the sites of restoration of historic monuments.
