The Ministry of Culture launches a public consultation on the opening of public cultural data. The purpose of this consultation is to gather users' needs and comments regarding data sets that are already open on data.culture.gouv.fr and data.gouv.fr, and those that are intended to be open.
The Ministry of Culture is fully committed to public policy in favour of the openness and sharing of public data, as well as the development of a cultural digital economy. Since 2011 and the creation of the interdepartmental portal, data.gouv.fr, the ministry has been working to identify, identify and open public data.
In December 2016, with the establishment of the platform data.culture.gouv.fr, the Ministry of Culture wanted to offer a space for the exploitation of its digital cultural resources (cartography, chart, table) for the attention of all citizens, researchers, students, journalists, and also developers and companies thanks to the integrated APIs. This platform offers a space to enhance the digital cultural resources of the ministry and its institutions, allowing a readable visualization (maps, graphs). The data published on data.culture.gouv.fr cover both the activity of cultural institutions (visits to museums) as well as economic aspects (aid to the press), iconographic resources (war fund 14-18) and cultural events (European Heritage Days).
It is within the framework of this policy in favour of openness and sharing of public data that the ministry launches a public consultation whose objectives are to:
- implement the opening of data sets according to the expectations expressed;
- improve the quality of data already made available on data.culture.gouv.fr and data.gouv.fr (frequency of updating, completeness of data, contextualization of data, geo-referencing of data, etc.).
The consultation is aimed at all citizens, particularly users of cultural data
This consultation is open from December 06, 2022 to February 06, 2023. To access the form click here.
