Roselyne Bachelot-Narquin, Minister of Culture, in agreement with Alexandre Cassaro, Mayor of Forbach, Jean Rottner, President of the Regional Council of the Great East and Romain Kotik, President of the Board of Directors, gives its approval to the appointment of Grégory Cauvin to the direction of the Carreau, Scène nationale de Forbach, on unanimous proposal of the jury.
Grégory Cauvin has been Secretary General of the Centre chorégraphique national de Nancy since 2016. He was previously in charge of performing arts at the Principality of Monaco’s Directorate of National Education, artistic advisor and young audience manager at the Opéra de Saint-Étienne and then playwright at the Centre chorégraphique national de Mulhouse.
Placed under the sign of sharing, his project offers a program offering a complete panorama of contemporary creation. The variety of formats of shows will allow their presentation at Carreau but also outside the walls, in a diversity of places and for a diversity of audiences. This project is also based on a reaffirmed support for artists, their creative work and the dissemination of their works, which will be able to unfold over time thanks to partnerships established in the territory.
In the continuation of the long-standing work undertaken by Le Carreau, part of this program will be directed towards youth, from early childhood to young adults and adolescents, invited to become even more involved in the organization of the Loostik festival, Franco-German demonstration dedicated to young audiences. The Carreau’s cross-border identity will also be consolidated through several joint operations with neighbouring countries (Luxembourg, Germany, Switzerland).
Finally, different types of proposals will be made to the populations outside of the time of representation: a collaborative project, «Creative pastilles», engaged each season with a different artist or company; a regular night appointment, Klub; access to artists' residence time; or the development of virtual tools inviting users to an active approach.
Grégory Cauvin took up his duties as Director of Le Carreau on 19 October 2020, succeeding Fabienne Lorong, whose professional career path Roselyne Bachelot-Narquin has praised, marked by a determination to support creation for youth.
