At the first Assises on Parity, Equality and Diversity in Cinema held at the CNC (from 18 September to 20 September) Françoise Nyssen, closed the debate. The Minister of Culture announced a first series of concrete measures in favour of gender equality in the Cinema, the result of a concerted work with the 50-50 collective for 2020 in close connection with the film industry.
New measures will be implemented in 2019.
- Genrer systematically statistical data on technical teams and payroll in accreditation files to better inform the place of women
- Experiment in 2019 a 15% bonus applied to financial support mobilized for films whose main positions respect parity
- Propose a charter of good practice to ratify goal 2019 for film companies with strong commitments in all fields: access to responsibilities, salaries, fight against harassment
- Integrating gender equality measures into agreements binding on local authorities at the CNC from 2019
- Ensure the development of heritage films made by women with special attention to their restoration and digitization
- Increase the number of films made by women in the lists of films offered as part of image education programmes for pupils, middle and high school students, and equip teachers with tools for reading and deciphering stereotypes
Other projects are under way: extending the measures to the distribution and exploitation of films, audiovisual production and the consideration of diversity in all its dimensions.
