Bringing together for three days many national and international music players, the MIDEM was an opportunity for the Minister of Culture, Franck Riester, to celebrate the spirit of initiative and energy of the music sector, whose development and support is a priority of the action of the Ministry of Culture.
The Minister was keen to exchange with artists within the Artist HUB. He also wanted to meet several musical start-ups at the stand French Tech by Cap Digital, which notably welcomes the companies awarded the Midem lab music startup competition. These exchanges enabled the Minister to congratulate them on their capacity for innovation and to reiterate the importance he attaches to cultural entrepreneurship.
Franck Riester then visited the exhibition spaces of the many music professionals and institutions present such as the Spedidam, F3C CFDT, as well as the European Commission, the German pavilion, the Francophone Africa pavilion and the France pavilion. Their commitment to a diverse and talented music industry was welcomed.
The visit ended with an intervention by the Minister at theArtist Hub. Surrounded by musicians, the Minister of Culture recalled that: since [s]on arrival, defending the creators is the heart of [s]on ministerial action ».
Before an audience of professionals, he also presented the challenges facing the music industry: innovation, export and digital adaptation; and confirmed presidential announcements to establish a €225 million fund to support cultural and creative industries (CCI) and the creation of a strategic committee.
Finally, Franck Riester concluded by rejoicing at the progress of the work of the National Center of Music:he music is the first cultural practice of the French, it was high time that it acquired a public establishment of such scope as to ensure its stability ».
