One of the most beautiful voices of the Francophonie has just died out. Rika Zaraï, famous for the titles No shirt, no pants or Then I sing, had conquered the hearts of the French by singing his native land.
Born in Jerusalem in 1938, into a family of Jewish pioneers, she soon began learning the piano and won the first prize at the Jerusalem Conservatory.
At 17, she did her military service, while conducting a musical, Five out of five, Rika Zaraï’s artistic career began and flourished in France when she met Eddy Barclay. Will follow songs that will become hits like Hava Nagila, revival of a folk song in Hebrew or Casatchock.
After a serious car accident, she turned to writing books on the benefits of natural medicine, putting aside her artistic career. Weakened but fighting, she had climbed the stage of the Folies-Bergères last February, during which the public had offered her a standing ovation proving to him, if need be, that she was always in the hearts of the French.
Roselyne Bachelot-Narquin extends her condolences to her family and loved ones.
