Franck Riester, Minister of Culture, has approved the proposal to appoint Muriel Mayette-Holtz as director of the Théâtre National de Nice - Centre dramatique national.
An actress, director and educator, Muriel Mayette-Holtz was a member of the Comédie-Française from 1988 before becoming its Chief Executive Officer in 2006, a position she held until 2014. The first woman to manage the prestigious public establishment, she was then appointed to the management of the Académie de France in Rome - Villa Médicis.
His project for the Théâtre National de Nice revolves around the presentation of major European texts in order to allow access to a large and renewed audience without excluding the stage writing of our time, which will echo the repertoire. It wishes to give a specific identity to the CDN, developing strong links with the theatres of "Mediterranean Europe" (Italy, Spain, Portugal, Greece).
While increasing the series of performances in the theatre and densifying the regional, national and international tours of productions of the Théâtre National de Nice, Muriel Mayette-Holtz plans to work closely with local structures and teams, with a strong involvement in the field of education and amateurs.
