' From historical monuments to heritage: the centenary of the law of 1913 »
and will take place in Paris, in the large auditorium of the Bibliothèque nationale de France, on 19 and 20 November 2013.
They will discuss the evolution of criteria for the protection of historic monuments, procedures for the conservation, restoration and management of spaces, as well as the respective role of specialists and experts, elected officials and representatives of the public authorities (from the State to the local authorities), and from civil society, in particular safeguard associations. Comparisons with other protection systems in Europe and the world will broaden the perspective on the considerable expansion of the heritage field, of which intangible cultural heritage is the most recent development, and its appropriation by citizens, especially through the media.
Many round tables will allow invited experts and the public to exchange on these themes:
-History of a law, 19 November morning,
-1913 Act and other land protection and management tools, 19 November afternoon,
-100 years after, 20 November morning,
-In the meantime 2113November 20th afternoon.
Finally, as the Ministry of Culture and Communication is working on a bill on heritage, these days will allow us to consider the place and future of heritage in our society, to recall its economic role, and its strong social value in a multicultural environment.
Every two years since its creation in 1988, the Conversations punctuate the action and display the priorities of the Ministry of Culture and Communication in the field of heritage. The exchanges to which they give rise, concerning the place of heritage in our society, proposing new lines of research and new modes of action, receive a broad echo.
The Entretiens du patrimoine et de l'architecture are accessible to all, free of charge, within the limits of places available.
