Aurélie Filippetti, Minister of Culture and Communication, in full agreement with Jean-Pierre Moure, President of the Montpellier agglomeration community, Christian Bourquin, President of the Languedoc-Roussillon Regional Council and André Vézinhet, President of the General Council of Herault, appointed Rodrigo Garcia, director of the Théâtre des 13 Vents, Centre dramatique national de Montpellier.
Hispano-Argentine director, playwright and scenographer, Rodrigo Garcia is one of the great figures of the renewal of the European theatre scene.
He proposes to make Montpellier and Languedoc-Roussillon the place of convergence of contemporary dramatic creation. He relies on an artistic ensemble composed of actors, creative collaborators that are his international partners with whom he is used to work, a research laboratory linked to the university and a digital creation department that it will set up within the Centre dramatique.
Driven by a strong conviction and the desire to provoke uninhibited encounters between audiences and works, he will develop for the Théâtre des 13 Vents a bold and open artistic and cultural project.
He will take up his duties on 1 January 2014.
