This Friday, April 12, Rachida DATI, Minister of Culture, will inaugurate the Rose Valland terraces located in the Tuileries Garden in Paris.
The Minister will inaugurate the Rose Valland terraces, located in the Tuileries Garden in Paris, in the presence of Mrs Laurence des CARS, President and Director of the Louvre Museum, Mrs Christine VERNAY, little cousin of Rose VALLAND, and Mrs Jacqueline BARTHALAY, president of the association The Memory of Rose Valland.
Between 1940 and 1944, the Nazi occupier made the Musée du Jeu de Paume, located in the Jardin des Tuileries in Paris, the centre for sorting works of art stolen from merchants, collectors and individuals considered as Jews. During this period, Rose Valland (1898-1980), curator at the museum, documents in perilous conditions the operations carried out by the occupier. It thus plays a decisive role in the safeguarding and recovery of cultural property stolen during the Occupation.
Confirmation of compulsory accreditation.
