What is the mutual creation support program?
The main objective of this program is to support the creation of current music shows throughout the national territory and to develop its articulation with its broadcasting perspectives.
By encouraging the pooling and cooperation of partners, the support strategy contributes to the enrichment of their respective artistic and cultural activities as well as their networks. The challenge is to develop the collective strength of partners promoting interregional cooperation, the circulation of artistic teams; and facilitate the realization of unique creative projects in the field of contemporary music.
Objectives of the approach
The scheme has several objectives:
- Promote the emergence of new logics of cooperation on the national territory
- Develop networking and collaboration of structures of different typologies
- Accompany the creation of a musical show in all its forms and in all its components
- Work on long time and leave time for experimentation
- Supporting the diversity of artistic and cultural creation
- Improve the conditions of production and support of artistic projects
- Offer flexible support according to the needs of artistic teams
- Allow better registration of artistic teams in the territories in connection with their inhabitants thanks to longer presence times in production and dissemination spaces
- Contribute to the renewal of young creation
- Promote innovative forms of creation and dissemination (digital, participatory, immersive, etc.) and hybridization logics
- Encourage gender and diversity arrangements in the project or applicant structure
- Encourage measures taken to reduce the environmental impact of the project and its reception
Prior to the submission of the application, the person in charge of the shared creation project must take over the responsibility of the DGCA. The application file is filed with the DGCA (Delegation to Music).

A venue or festival can benefit from the program’s support.
The applicant venue or festival must not have been funded under the scheme in the year preceding the application, as the project leader.
The same place or festival can be partner (but not carrier) of several projects within the limit of 3 per year.
To be eligible, creative projects must meet the following criteria:
- Be designed with at least 3 different partners (places, festivals, show producers for example) of which at least one must be specialized in contemporary music
- Must be worn by a place or festival
- Take place over 2 years with a minimum of 12 months between the first day of creation and the last day
- Develop a dissemination strategy that ensures that the shows created under this scheme give rise to a minimum of 6 performances over 2 years (2024-2025), including 3 produced by partners seeking support from the program. The performances will be the subject of an independent transfer contract not taken into account in the co-production budget presented. By way of derogation, for the overseas territories, the number of representations will be increased to a minimum of 3
- Not funded under the scheme in the year preceding the application
Eligible expenses for support of this programme include production project costs only.
Eligible expenses for support of this programme include production project costs only.
Procedure
The amount of aid, estimated on the basis of the project, amounts to between €7,500 and €20,000 per year, representing total funding of between €15,000 and €40,000 over the two years.
The amount granted takes into account the aid already received under this project, the effort of the partners to support the dissemination of the project and the size of the artistic stage.
The aid ceiling is €40,000 per application up to a maximum of 50% of the relevant budget.
Support is subject to a two-year agreement.
A first payment of 50% of the amount granted is paid in the first year. The second instalment of 50% shall be paid in the second year subject to receipt of the interim balance sheet.
Proposed projects will be reviewed based on the following criteria:
- Registration in an interregional or cross-border framework
- The originality and singularity of the artistic subject (writing, arrangements, stage devices, etc.)
- The diversity of aesthetics while paying particular attention to rock and its derivatives, rap and its derivatives, electronic music, song, jazz & improvised music, world music, traditional music…
- Mediation and EAC actions undertaken within the specific framework of projects
- The arrangements made by the applicants in terms of managing the environmental impact of their project
- The provisions taken in terms of parity in the project or in the requesting structures
- The formalization of the project, the rigor of its assembly and the seriousness of the partnerships established
The committee of experts should also assess the work on the reception of the public and the territorial anchoring of the project as well as the prospects of dissemination beyond the audience of the partners, for example by audio and video recordings, traditional or digital broadcast formats and media.
The committee of experts will have to take into account the place that the project takes in the path of the artist (emergence, career recovery) and in the constitution of its professional environment. In addition, attention will be paid to projects that promote aesthetics that have smaller distribution channels.
Shared creations must contribute to giving an artist or group of artists the technical and financial conditions to design, write and create a show of contemporary music and to inscribe it in a dissemination strategy.
They jointly aim to support artists in the development of their career, to open their distribution network, and to strengthen the action of partners in the realization of their mission and are part of a logic of sector specific to current music.
The artist, the artist group or their partner show producer must be at the centre of the pooling project design.
These elements are translated into an agreement with a maximum duration of 2 years.
- Application deadline: 30 April 2024, 23:59 (Paris time). No file may be filed or taken into account after this date.
- Expert Panel: June 2024, based on the number of applications received. Results will be communicated directly to project proponents.
The beneficiary undertakes to provide an interim assessment at the end of the first year and, at least three months before the end of the agreement, an overall qualitative and quantitative assessment of the implementation of the project/action programme.
