From 2 to 10 February, Clermont-Ferrand has once again become the undisputed international capital of short films. A well-deserved title, judging by the winners of the 46th short film festival, largely marked by the seal of openness, with productions from Palestine (A Jaffa orange by Mohammed Almughanni, International Jury Prize), India (Virundhu (The Feast) Rishi Chandna, Special Prize of the International Jury) or Chile (AlieN0089 by Valeria Hofmann, Prix Labo).
French productions were not left behind, with the remarkable achievements that were distinguished: I saw the devil’s face by Julia Kowalski, National Grand Prize, or And if the sun plunged into the ocean of the clouds by Wissam Charaf, Special Jury Prize, or The voice of others of Fatima Kaci, special mention of the jury, to name but a few.
The unmissable event of the short film
Beyond the winners, the short film festival of Clermont-Ferrand, organized by the association Save who can the short film in partnership with the National Film Centre, it is above all an unmissable event for the vitality of short films and the diversity of cinematographic formats and expressions. It is precisely this diversity that Rachida Dati, Minister of Culture, came to greet on 8 February on the occasion of her trip to Clermont-Ferrand.
After discussions with the festival’s teams, directors and producers, the Minister of Culture assured that the short film is an entry point to discover cinema, but also culture "." I will always be at the side of the Clermont-Ferrand festival, did it continue in an interview with France Bleu Auvergne, because it is a common good, which brings different audiences, different authors, different cultural actors ". The Minister also participated in workshops for young audiences, notably during her visit to the École éphémère de cinéma et de Mille formes, an art initiation centre for children aged 0 to 6.

Traveling to Clermont-Ferrand, the Minister conducted on February 8, as part of the Spring of rurality, an exercise of consultation with local elected officials and cultural actors who brought the candidacy of Clermont-FerrandFerrand Massif Central 2028 to be European Capital of Culture in 2028. « My mission is to be able to access the 22 million French people living in a rural area to culture but also to the professions of culture ” said Rachida Dati, Minister of Culture
