What are the missions "Entrepreneurship in culture"?

- facilitate market access for young French cultural enterprises;
- intensify exchanges on cultural entrepreneurship.
Made up of delegations of about fifteen professionals, participants in these missions benefit from dedicated support and a mission program established for them in conjunction with local specialized partners.

The Ministry of Culture (DGMIC) launches a call for applications to form a French delegation «Discoverability» composed of a dozen professionals (entrepreneurs and researchers) carrying out a project promoting the discoverability of cultural content as part of the event «Montréal Connects» which takes place from October 15 to 18, 2024.
Context
The notion of discoverability is essential for the promotion of the diversity of online creation, and more particularly of the Francophonie, in a digital ecosystem characterized by hyper-abundance of supply, concentration of distribution on a few large platforms and the role of recommendation mechanisms. Indeed, the dissemination platforms, thanks to the exploitation of usage data and metadata, intervene directly in the highlighting of content, objectives that are not necessarily aligned with those of promoting and protecting the diversity of cultural expressions. This logic can tend to trap citizens in «filter bubbles», and limit, even impoverish, access to the diversity of culture.
A Franco-Quebec mission on the online discoverability of Francophone cultural content was launched in April 2019 by the Quebec and French Ministers of Culture. Its objective is to establish a diagnosis of the various issues, and to propose solutions that ensure better visibility of Francophone artists and works on the Internet.
A new working group between France and Québec was set up in April 2024 on the linguistic diversity of cultural content in the digital age.
The mandate of this working group will include:
- Mobilize members of the International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF) and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) to protect and promote the linguistic diversity of cultural content in the digital environment;
- Continue the active implementation of the joint Franco-Québec strategy on online discoverability of Francophone cultural content;
- Develop joint actions on the discoverability of Francophone cultural content, artificial intelligence and digital sobriety.
Montreal Connects
Since 2019, the Digital Spring organizes annually MTL connects: Montreal Digital Week. It is a major international event that addresses digital transformation in a transversal way, through its economic, social, cultural and environmental impacts.

- 3,327 in-person participants in Montreal;
- More than 145 activities were proposed during the week (workshops, workshop, networking, conferences, etc.);
- 20 local and international delegations joined the event.
As part of the 2024 edition of MTL connects, we propose to accompany a delegation of 10 French companies and researchers in the field of French cultural and creative industries (CCI), CCIs in Quebec, among which some winners of the AAP discoverability 2022, but also other companies that would seek to develop partnerships and joint projects on this theme.
