- Developed since 2019, Between images is a national photography outreach program and workshops – with support from the Ministry of Culture and in partnership with the ADAGP - open to all audiences throughout France. An initiative that places photography as a relational tool, a tool for sharing, dialogue and encounter.
- Since February 2020, with the studio Écran sonore, the Diagonal network has produced a collection composed of 13 podcasts that values projects Between images, highlights their singularity and what participates in the emergence of doing in common.
A relationship to the world
In this last episode entitled «A Report to the World», the network wanted to review the experience of the program Between imagesto go out of the field to try a more reflexive approach of what is undertaken through photography, to think and place education to and through the image in our society, finally put into perspective its challenges of yesterday, today and tomorrow.
Through the testimonies of workshop participants and photographers, this episode combines the reactions and analyses of an art historian and university researcher: Raphaële Bertho; and a field actor: Fred Boucher, director of Diaphane, photography pole in Hauts-de-France and co-president of the Diagonal network.

Between the images
A new approach to photographic image education
A national programme of transmission and workshops of photographic practice developed by the Diagonal network with the financial support of the Ministry of Culture and in partnership with the ADAGP .
The Diagonal network and its members are convinced that image is a major stake in our society as well as arts and cultural education at all ages and for all by and with photography. The added value of the Diagonal network lies in the field experience, the capitalization of know-how and knowledge, the combined involvement of partners in the social field, education and other fields, work methodologies that adapt to different contexts.
The network claims its ability to provide this field of research and this on a scale unparalleled in Europe. Initiated in late 2018, Between images is the only program of transmission and workshops of photographic practice deployed by a cultural operator on the metropolitan and overseas territory involving at the heart of each project artistsauthors photographers and wishing to address all citizens. He summons the civic function of art and especially that of photography to create common.
Since the first edition in 2019, Between images 126 projects developed through
- 109 photographers - 56 women/ 53 men
- for more than 2900 beneficiaries - Women/ men, children from 3 to 90 years.
