Actions to promote the discoverability of Francophone cultural content
Launched in April 2019 by the Quebec and French Ministers of Culture, the Franco-Québec mission for online discoverability of Francophone cultural content aims to establish a diagnosis of the various issues and propose solutions that will ensure better visibility of Francophone artists and works on Internet. Concrete actions have been taken by two ministries since 2021 to implement a common strategy.
What is discoverability?
Discoverability of cultural content refers to its availability and visibility online, as well as its ability to be identified from a wide range of other content, in particular by a person that did not specifically research it. This notion is essential in a digital ecosystem characterized by hyper-abundance of supply, concentration of distribution on some major international platforms, and the role of recommendation mechanisms in access to cultural content. In summary, the discoverability of cultural content is what allows in the digital world toensure the exhibition and access to cultural and creative content, in all its diversity.
The report and the synthesis of the mission discoverability
