Book and reading
The Regional Directorate of Cultural Affairs Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur supports the entire book sector, from the author to the reader.
It promotes the development of public and private structures for the dissemination of books, writing and documentation.
It supports the promotion of books, public reading and the development of reading.
It drives actions in support of literary creation as those directed towards the fight against illiteracy.
It supports local authorities, associations and other cultural actors working to broaden the public of books and reading (including public reading), actions to modernize independent bookstores and publishing houses, raising awareness among library professionals.
The DRAC also ensures the preservation and enhancement of written heritage by encouraging local authorities to better conserve and promote it.
Finally, in close collaboration with the Regional Council, it manages the Regional Book Agency, a tool for cooperation, information, training and essential observation in the regions.
The action of the book service and reading is also long-term. Indeed, the DRAC strongly supports the development of the public reading offer (under the General Decentralization Endowment) throughout the regional territory, according to two priority axes:
- the construction of local media libraries,
- respect for the equality of territories, in particular the question of rebalancing in favour of rural and peri-urban territories.
