Large apartment building built from 1932 to 1934 by Garabed Hovnanian, architect of Armenian origin. Barouyr and Hrant Hovnanian, his brothers, are the entrepreneurs. The building was built for Joachim Nahapiet, an Iranian-born developer who made his fortune in the United States. Built of reinforced concrete, it is a modern report building, with a ground floor for shops, an underground garage and five floors of apartments. Testifying to the complexity of the references animating the architectural modernity, the building is characterized by the careful treatment of its reception spaces and common areas, as well as by the importance of its decorative program, of Art Deco inspiration. Using an original technique -a mosaic of coloured pieces of glass, glued between two windows-, the stained glass windows, signed by Lasalle after cardboard boxes by the painter Mahokian, present pointillist landscapes.
