In a dominant position on the top of the hill of California (or Super-Cannes), this observatory built in 1953 by Cannes architect Georges Sauvan was served by a funicular.
The concrete tower, with four buttresses, is equipped at its top with an octagonal platform accessible by an external lift, allowing to see the landscape.
With its urban lighthouse look, this unusual construction, built to welcome tourists, is part of the tower-belvedere tradition.
