Programmed archaeology
Programmed archaeology responds to a precise and specific scientific problem, concerning sites already known and not threatened by development projects.
It is carried out by actors from various organizations such as universities, the CNRS, the Ministry of Culture, archaeological services of local authorities, associations or volunteers.
These scheduled excavations are:
- subject to state control via prefectural or ministerial authorization;
- carried out by professional or volunteer researchers, authorized according to their skills;
- conducted under the supervision of scientific staff of the Ministry of Culture.
The DRAC may award grants after evaluation of the scientific quality of the project.
The DRAC Grand Est puts at your disposal a vade mecum to guide you in the preparation of your application files.
The three stages of designing a programmed research
1/ The transmission of the pre-programming sheet
It allows:
- inform the DRAC of a research project, without the latter necessarily being formalised at this stage;
- to include the estimated financial requirements in the process of constructing the budgets of the DRAC for the coming year.
2/ An annual meeting of research project leaders
Organized by the DRAC Grand Est, it is an opportunity for a collegial exchange around all the projects, to better understand the expectations and objectives, and, if necessary, to specify the contents.
3/ The submission of application files (operating authorization, grant application)
The official submission of the application is the result of the research project.
