Work on a historic monument
All work done on a historic monument are subject to agreement or authorization of the Prefect of Region:
The time limits for instructions vary according to the type of authorisation.
- listed monuments : they are subject to a planning authorization, the file is filed in town hall (except outdoor works: garden modifications, road works, infrastructure works... submitted to the UDAP).

- classified monuments : they are the subject of a special administrative authorization, granted by the prefect of the region, the filing is made with the UDAP of the department concerned.

- scaffold covers : the installation, on a scaffolding, of a tarp with advertising display, during work on a classified or registered building, is also the subject of a request for authorization with the DRAC.

Use of an architect is mandatory for protected buildings
- Classified monuments : the work must be entrusted to categories of specialized professionals, defined in article R.621-26 for repair work and in articles R. 621-27 and R.621-28 for restoration work;
- Listed monuments: the project management must be entrusted to an architect, it is strongly recommended to approach a professional with experience or skills in the field of heritage.
Seek assistance and expertise from upstream RDCA services
It is recommended that, before the application is submitted, the assistance and expertise of the Historical Monuments Department of the Regional Directorate of Cultural Affairs (DRAC) for drawing up the specifications should be sought for scientific and technical control, procedures for selecting and bidding providers (for local authorities).
The Regional Conservation of Historical Monuments (CRMH) and the Departmental Unit of Architecture and Heritage (UDAP) are at your disposal for any further information and can help you to complete this application.
Grant applications
Grants may be granted by the DRAC to public and private owners for maintenance and restoration work on historic monuments and for studies. These grants are likely to complement other funders (Region, Department, Heritage Foundation...).

Geolocated access to the heritage information of the Haute-Marne territory
The Ministry of Culture provides the public with a cartographic platform, theHeritage atlas which allows everyone (private individuals, elected officials, public and private developers...) to locate and access, free of charge, through an interactive map, the geographical information of heritage: historical monuments, protected spaces, zones of presumption of archaeological prescription, World Heritage properties, labels, as well as cartographic documents related to archaeology, architecture...
The Heritage Atlas acts in full interoperability with the site Geoportal.frIt thus constitutes a privileged entrance to the heritage domain at the same time as it offers an enriched reading of the territory.
Attention, this site is under development: are opposable only the easements of public utility, annexed to the planning document of each municipality.
