Regional Archaeology Service Digital Library
The Digital Library of the Regional Archaeological Service (SRA) offers the consultation of the reports of archaeological operations conducted in Brittany.
It makes it possible to consult all the excavation reports submitted since 1951 by those responsible for archaeological operations.
4200 reports are progressively accessible: reports of planned archaeological surveys and excavations, reports of diachronic and thematic archaeological surveys, reports of diagnostics and preventive excavations.
The online reports are consulted and used in compliance with the provisions of the intellectual property code. Thus, reproductions are authorized for private use, for citation purposes justified by the mention of the source or for exclusive purposes of illustration in the context of teaching and research. Under no circumstances may such uses give rise to commercial exploitation.
The archaeological operation report
Regulatory and administrative document handed over to the Regional Archaeological Service after each archaeological operation, the “report” is in fact, for research, the primary publication of the remains for which it must account. Together with the archaeological furniture and scientific documentation, the operation report is the only surviving evidence of an archaeological site once excavated.
The content and form of the transaction report shall comply with standards defined by theOrder of 27 September 2004. The first section of the report presents the administrative data of the archaeological operation. The second section details the operation and its scientific results. The third section brings together the documentary technical inventories (inventories of archives, photographs, etc.) and scientific inventories (remains, archaeological layers, furniture, etc.).
Once the transaction report has been declared compliant, a double scientific assessment, that of the regional archaeology service, that of the territorial commission for archaeological research (CTRA).
The SFA receives all transaction reports produced in the regional territory. Transaction reports are available in SFA.
