The scientific committee, an assembly of experts serving a masterpiece.
On the proposal of the State Services in charge of the public collections, here the
regional cultural affairs department Auvergne - Rhône-Alpes
, a scientific committee has been set up to oversee the restoration of the triptych of Maitre de Moulins, a work of major importance for the French heritage.
It is composed of about twenty expert members from various institutions such as the DRAC Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes: regional conservation of historical monuments, the
National Monuments Centre
, the diocese of Moulins, the
historical monuments laboratory
,
the Centre de recherche et de restauration des musées de France
, the Louvre Museum, Paris 1 Sorbonne University, Clermont Auvergne University and the
Royal Institute of Artistic Heritage
, (Belgium). This forum of dialogue is made up of specialists, academics, curators, restorers, architects, professionals of research laboratories, solicited for their knowledge on techniques and materials of heritage, conservation-restoration and art history.
The scientific committee responsible for overseeing the restoration campaign participates in a dynamic process of reflection, in defining the objectives and choices of curative and preventive conservation-restoration intervention. The opinions of the Scientific Committee participate in the scientific and technical control of the State, carried out by the Regional Directorate for Cultural Affairs, which is ultimately a decision-maker.
Moreover, as a multidisciplinary body, the scientific committee, which will meet regularly throughout the restoration campaign, will contribute to improving knowledge of the work.
