Rose-Valland Database (MNR)
In order to facilitate the search and possible recognition by spoliated owners, the French Museum Service designed the site in 1997 Rose Valland-National Museum Recovery, became from the base Rose-Valland (MNR-Jeu de Paume), accessible via pop.culture.fr (open heritage platform). The assigned museums or custodians of MNR property have the mission to carry out research on the history of works and to seek to identify the owners. These searches are conducted in connection with the M2RS and published on the Rose-Valland base as they progress.
The base Rose-Valland (MNR-Jeu de Paume) contains a work record for each MRN. Each record brings together most of the information available on the work’s path, from its creation to its current location, its inventory number, its description, etc., as well as photos.
This database also contains data on works exhibited under the Occupation by theEinsatzstab Reichsleiter Rosenberg (ERR) at museum of the Jeu de Paume.
Operation of the Rose-Valland base
The Database can be accessed in many ways. Before starting a search, it is advisable to read a few records carefully, in order to find out the type of information that is there and how they are structured. It is then possible to make the best use of all the potential of the database.
