Auguste’s Trophy in La Turbie
The trophy of Augustus is erected in the year 6 BC in honor of Octavian, nephew of Caesar and future emperor Augustus, following the submission of the peoples of the Alps. Located on the border between Gaul and Italy, it celebrates the unity and power of the Roman Empire.
From this highest point of the ancient via Julia Augusta, one dominates the entire French Riviera, from the Esterel to the Italian coast.
