Memory: graphic and photographic collections illustrating French heritage
Created in 1995 and published online in 1996, Mémoire is a database of photographs preserved by the Ministry of Culture (Médiathèque de l'architecture et du patrimoine and the DRAC) as well as the regional services of the General Inventory of Cultural Heritage and the conservation of antiquities and art objects. As of October 2020, it has over two million records.
Memory includes six searchable domains separately or simultaneously:
- The Media Library of Architecture and Heritage (MAP) domain provides all images from the MAP collections.
- The General Inventory (IVR) domain offers images of inventory files made by the regional departments of the General Inventory of Cultural Heritage.
- The other four domains are fed by images from the decentralized services of the Ministry of Culture: ARCH presents the images of the regional services of Archaeology; CAOA those of the conservation of antiquities and art objects with, if applicable, a double copyright State/Local authority (departmental council); CRMH those of the regional conservations of the Historical Monuments; UDAP those of the departmental units of Architecture and Heritage.
It is regularly updated and accessible on POP, the open heritage platform, and Collections.
