Joint Programming Initiatives (Joint Programming Initiatives - JPI) were created to pool national research efforts and promote the implementation of the European Research Area (European Research Area - ERA) to meet major societal challenges. JPIs are flexible intergovernmental partnerships with the objective of better aligning national research and innovation investments. They involve countries that voluntarily agree to work in partnership on common visions summarized in strategic research and innovation agendas and implemented through joint activities.
The Belmont Forum is a group of funding agencies from around the world that supports cross-disciplinary and globally representative research groups, as well as co-production/participation methods, to address various topics related to global environmental change. Topics are addressed through CRA and CRA Cultural Heritage and Climate (Cultural Heritage and Climate CRA) is part of the three calls for research which will be launched in 2023.
The call results from a white paper jointly developed and published in March 2022 by both JPIs and joint workshops organized in June and September 2022 to identify and integrate the research priorities of Africa, the Americas and Asia.
