Ceremony of restitution of two works of art, stolen during the Second World War, to the beneficiaries of Grégoire SCHUSTERMAN
This Thursday, May 16, 2024, Ms Rachida DATI, Minister of Culture, will host at the Ministry of Culture the ceremony of restitution of two works of art part of the works called «National Museums Recovery» (MNR), to the rights holders of Grégoire SCHUSTERMAN (1889-1976).
The joint action of the services of the Ministry of Culture, the Musée d'Orsay, the Musée Renoir in Cagnes-sur-Mer, the Musée de Dieppe and the Commission pour la restitution des biens et l'indemnisation des victimes de spoliations antisemities (CIVS) the restitution of two stolen tables to Grégoire SCHUSTERMAN (1889-1976), forced to sell them during the Occupation:
- Auguste Renoir (1841-1919), Cariatides (1909 - NRM 198)
- Alfred Sisley (1839-1899), The Barges (1870 - NRM 206)
